How can you use language to empower yourself?
I think this question is an Essential question because it meets all the criteria of this term:
level of complexity – To answer this question, students will need to analyze many aspects of life that can be improved by knowledge of the English language, such as work, place of residence, social circle, availability of more information, etc.
level of coherence - This question contributes to the interests of the student, helps to understand the importance of learning English, thereby contributing to the achievement of learning objectives.
level of authenticity – confidence level - the answer to this question is the connection between learning English and the student’s real life.
Checklist for framing an effective question
• Is it provocative? – Yes, this question makes the student wonder how they can empower if they learn English.
• Is it open-ended? - Yes, this question requires a detailed answer.
• Does it go to the heart of a discipline or topic? – Yes, of course. It is directly connected to the English lesson.
• Is it challenging? – Yes, it is quite difficult because it requires an analysis of different parts of life.
• Does it arise from real world dilemmas that students find interesting? This question is connected with the real world, with the students' life and completely affects their interests.
