Alexander Fleming
(1881 – 1955) was a famous Scottish scientist.
What was he famous for?
He was famous for discovery of penicillin in 1928. It has helped millions of people to recover from illnesses .
His awards
- Fleming was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1945.

- Fleming was a member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.
- He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1943.
- He was awarded the Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
- He was knighted as a Knight Bachelor by king George VI in 1944.
- He was made a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Alfonso X the Wise in 1948.
- In 1999 Time magazine named Fleming one of the 100 Most Important People of the 20 th century.
