Theme: Unit 11 Talking. Revision

Lesson aim: to utilize vocabulary Relationships and grammar Question tags

Lesson objectives: by the end of the lesson students will be able to

- make up a dialogue using the vocabulary

- develop active and passive knowledge of the use of question tags

Lesson outline

1. Greeting

Teacher welcomes students. (2 minutes)

T: Good morning, class! How are you today?

Let’s begin our lesson. Let’s remember, what topics we studied on previous lessons? The theme of the Unit was Talking. So today we will revise what we studied in Unit 11: vocabulary and grammar topic Question tags.

2. Warm-up activity (3 minutes)

T: Look at the picture. What word do these pictures associate with?

Teachers chalks-up all learners’ guesses.

T: So, today we will remember the words related to Relationships.

3. Main Activity (13 minutes)

T: Now, I will give sheets of paper with the tasks. Work individually for 2 minutes. Put the words in the right column: Positive or negative.

T: Now compare your answers with your classmate (1 minute).

Let’s check it together. What words have you put in the Positive column? (get on well, closest friend, spend a lot of time). In the Negative column? (argue, annoy, have a row).

Great job! Well done!

T: You have another work to do. Work with your partner. Fill in the gaps with the missing words from exercise 1. You have 7 minutes.

Teacher checks the task.

T: _____, you will be Assem and _____, you will be Marat. Please, read aloud the dialogue. The rest of the class should listen and compare their answers.

Students read the dialogue. Teacher checks. (3 minutes)

T: Do you have the same answers? Why/not?

Good.

T: Well, we have remembered Relationships vocabulary, haven’t we?

Question tags.

Teacher divides class into two groups.

T: Let’s play a game. Each group will get a pack with sentence halves. Your task is to match two sentence halves. The group that finishes first is the winner. (3 minutes).

T: Great! Now your task is to do the exercise. Work individually. Complete the sentences with the appropriate question tag. You have 7 minutes for this task.

T: Compare your answers with the partner.

Teacher checks the task as a whole task. (2 minutes)

T: Now, work with the partner and make up your own dialogue using the words from ex. 1. and in your dialogue should be at least three question tags (15 minutes)

Teacher listens to the pairs. If time is out, this exercise is checked on the following lesson.

T: Thank you very much for your work. Your home task is to make-up 5 sentences with question tags.
