Game activities

Game activities are activities with an element of fun.

There are two kinds of game activities linguistic and communicative. Their common goal is to produce language expressions with so- called correct structure by carefully using the language.

The most important thing that these game activities are used for at all stages of the progression from controlled practice to free practice.

The game activities may also serve as a memory aid or a repetition drill thus leading us to acquire fluency in the foreign language. They help each teacher of us to diagnose the difficulties and take actions for remedy during the class session when necessary. They also help us to find new strategies to better understand the language foreign to us and to better comprehend how words are remembered by our brain and how they can be integrated in our everyday speech. They help us to make the foreign words part of our vocabulary.

The game activities are arranged in all books in lexical sets following topics most widely used by our society.

If we are to start teaching communication,we shall keep game activities at elementary level or rely on what students may know.

The three most essential stages in all game activities are : memorizing,personalizing and communicating. They may be freely discarded by the teachers if the students don't need the teacher's help. The game activities also have techniques such as information gap,guessing,combining,arranging,card games,board games, puzzles and role plays. These techniques enrich the class session,management and can be of use when anyone of you decides to write a coursebook of his/her own concerning English at any stage.
