BREAKFAST TIME.

It is half past seven. The Carters are sitting at the table in their kitchen. The children are still sleeping. Helen and Robert are having breakfast. Robert’s working day begins at half past eight.

H. – I say, Robbie, do you want another cup of coffee?

R. – No, thanks. The coffee is too strong for me. Don’t you know that I prefer tea to coffee?

H. – I know that. But I have run out of tea. Today I am going to buy some… Some more toasts?

R. – No, that will be all. The toasts are delicious.

H. – Shall I switch off TV?

R. – Please, don’t. Here is the latest news.

H. – What time is it?

R. – It is two minutes to eight.

H. - Isn’t it time for you to go?

R. – I’ve got a couple of minutes to spare. Let’s listen to the latest news.

H. – But I’ve to go.

R. – Why so early?

H. – Don’t you remember, Robbie, that I always begin working at 8.30?

R. – I do remember that, Helen. I know that it takes you about ten minutes to reach your office.

H. – That’s right. If I go there by car… Today I’ve to walk to my office. Our car is not fixed.

R. – Oh, Helen, thank you for reminding me about it. Let’s make haste! Please wait for me.

H. – I am waiting for you, Robbie. Don’t forget to switch off the TV set.

R. – OK. I am ready.

1. – What are your business hours?

• Are you very busy?

• I prefer cauliflower.

1. – Do you remember that Alice is waiting for you?

• Да. Но я еще занят. Я готов ее повидать вечером.

• She has to be at home in the evening. Her son is ill.

- Why so early?

- I do remember that. What time is it now?

- Сейчас ровно восемь.
