From ancient times the Kyrgyz people kept the old traditions in ballad telling and music.
You can hardly find a Kyrgyz who cannot play a national musical instrument -the Komuz,
the kyak or the choor. You can hardly meet a Kyrgyz who doesn't know songs, legends and fairy-tales.
The folklore passed from ayil to ayil , from boz uy to boz uy. Story - tellers are respected
and called as "nightingales".
The welcomed guest in every home is a jomokchu, a fairy tale -teller. All the Kyrgyz fairy-tales
are about people.
The fairy tales about people describe rich and silly khans, brave hunters, poor peasants and
shepherds. At the end of every fairy-tale the poor and clever people win the victory.
The women in Kyrgyz fairy-tales are beautiful and brave they give their people good advice
and even rule them. Aldarkose is another character. He is wise and practical. He often teaches
bais and khans a lesson. The Kazakh , Karakalpak and Turkmen also have stories about
Aldarkose. He is loved by common people of many Turkic nationalities.
