Volcanoes in Russia

Volcanoes are amazing natural phenomena. Dangerous, but beautiful places . It is not typical for people living in Central Russia to think about them , but there are still many volcanoes in Russia that you need to know about, and it is desirable to see them with your own eyes.

Tolbachik Volcano

Tolbachik volcanic massif is located in Kamchatka, its height is more than three thousand meters. It is composed of two volcanoes Ostry Tolbachik and Plosky Tolbachik. Plosky Tolbachik, by the way, is an active volcano, the last eruption of which was in 2012.

Sarychev’s Volcano

An active volcano that is located on the island of Matua, part of the Kuril Islands. Its height is 1446 meters. And the last eruption was quite recently-in 2009.

Karymskaya Sopka volcano

Over the past 10 years, it has erupted 2 times, and over 100 years -more than 20. Located in Kamchatka, the height is 1536 meters.

Kronotskaya Sopka volcano

It is another active volcano on the Eastern coast of Kamchatka, it’s height is 3528 meters. Kronotskaya Sopka erupts extremely rarely. The top is covered with a glacier , and at the base there are forests, and we can see an amazing picture in its beauty . Near the volcano is Kronotsky lake and the valley of geysers.

Klyuchevsky volcano

It is the highest volcano in Russia : its height is 4750 meters! It is part of the Klyuchevskaya hill , which consists of 12 cones. The diameter of the Klyuchevsky volcano crater is more than half a kilometer. Smoke and lava flares are constantly visible above it.

Shiveluch Volcano

Old and Young Shiveluch are parts of this volcano. Shiveluch is located in the Northern part of the Kamchatka, and its height is 3283 meters. The volcano erupts often and quite strongly. One of the strongest eruptions occurred in 1964. The volcano is about 70 thousand years old.

The Volcano Avacha

Another active volcano, which is also located in Kamchatka, in the southern part of the Eastern ridge. Its height is 2741 meters.
