Vaganov Alexander Vasilievich
A.V. Vaganov was born on December 8, 1914 into a peasant family in the village ofKishkino , Chumlyak volost , Chelyabinsk district , Orenburg province , Russian Empire. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR of June 5, 1964, the village of Kishkino was renamed the village of Sovetskaya Chumlyaksky Village Council Shchuchansky, area Kurgan Region.
In 1930 , he graduated from the Chumlyak seven-year school and began working as a driver.
In 1933 he moved to Zernograd (now Rostov Region). From 1933 to 1936 he worked at the educational and experimental grain farm No. 2 of the city of Zernograd.
In 1936 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. After graduating from the regimental school of tank driver mechanics, he served in the Far East. He graduated from junior lieutenant courses and Advanced Command Courses. The tank commander, then the tank platoon of a separate tank battalion in the Far East.
At the front
Since March 1943 - a participant in the Great Patriotic War. Called by the Zernograd RVK. He fought as part of the 68th Guards Tank Regiment of the 8th Guards Tank Corps on the Bryansk, Voronezh, 1st Ukrainian and 1st Belorussian fronts. He participated in the Battle of Kursk, fought on a tank T-34 on the banks of the Dnieper, Western Bug, San, Vistula, Oder. Slightly wounded on August 12, 1943 and March 25, 1944, wounded in the arm on January 17, 1945.
On January 16 , 1945 , in the area of the city of Nove Miasto (Poland), the commander of the tank company of the 68th Guards Tank Regiment of the 20th Guards Mechanized Brigade of the 8th Guards Mechanized Corps of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the 1st Belorussian Guard Front, Captain A.V. Vaganov was tasked with organizing a raid on the rear of the enemy and cutting off its retreat. The tank company successfully crossed the Pilitsa River along the crossing recaptured from the enemy, and leaving the flank of the German defense, cut off the retreat routes. As a result, up to 200 vehicles with ammunition were captured, 3 assault and 9 field guns were disabled. The guards captured up to two hundred enemy soldiers and officers.
For this battle, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31 , 1945 , Captain Alexander Vasilievich Vaganov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
Post-war years
In 1945 , he went into reserve for health reasons with the rank of major. He lived in the city of Zernograd , Rostov Region, where he worked as deputy director for the administrative and economic part of the Azov-Black Sea Institute of Agricultural Mechanization. He took an active part in the work of the veteran organization of the city.
Since June 15, 1949 he lived in the city of Kropotkin , Krasnodar Territory. He worked as the manager of the Kropotkinsky interdistrict department, the director of the Kropotkinsky interdistrict store of Glavtorgmash and the deputy trade manager of the Caucasian district branch of Agricultural Equipment. He took an active part in the work of the veteran organization of the city.
He was a deputy of the Kropotkinsky city council of workers' deputies since 1950.
Alexander Vasilievich Vaganov died on May 20 , 1974 in the city of Kropotkin , Krasnodar Territory.
He was buried in the cemetery of the city of Kropotkin , Krasnodar Territory .
