The Best Time for Apples

It is a lesson at a country school.The lesson is about the seasons of the year. “There are four seasons of the year “, says the teacher. “They are spring, summer, autumn and winter. In spring it is warm and trees are green.

In summer it is hot, and there are a lot of flowers in the fields, in the parks and in the gardens.

In autumn there are a lot of apples. They are red and sweet and good to eat.

In winter it is cold and it snows…”

Suddenly the teacher stops and looks at Nick. Nick, stop talking! Now, answer my question! When is the best time for apples?”

“It’s when the farmer is not at home and there is no dog in the garden”, says Nick.

Winter

It is winter now.The winter months are December, January and February. In winter the days are short and the nights are long. On the 22^nd of December we have the shortest day and the longest night.

The sun doesn’t shine brightly in winter. It often snows. It is often slippery, windy and frosty. The sky is grey and it is very cold.

As for nature it is full of wonders. The rivers, lakes and ponds freeze and become icy. There is much snow on the ground, trees and houses.

Children like to ski on the snow, they are fond of skating on the ice on the skating-rinks. They are enjoy sledging down the hills. Boys play ice-hockey. Winter sports make us healthy and strong.
