Тема: What Helps You to Enjoy Yourselves? Roles to Die for.

(30й урок, 10я неделя)

Цель урока: совершенствование речевых компетенций учащихся при решении коммуникативных задач в рамках проблемы «Американская киноиндустрия. Что нужно сделать, чтобы стать звездой?»

Задачи урока в условиях компетентностного подхода:

1. Совершенствование коммуникативных умений в основных видах речевой деятельности: в говорении, аудировании, чтении, письме.

2. Реализация учебно-познавательной компетенции через работу с лингвострановедческим справочником, содержащим факты о типичных явлениях культуры США.

3. Развитие умений высказываться продуктивно и содержательно (пользоваться фактами и сведениями), при трансформации текстового материала по теме.

4. Развитие социально-культурной компетенции через знакомство с лучшими представителями американской киноиндустрии (Вивьен Ли, Кларк Гейбл, Уолт Дисней, Эдди Мерфи, Стивен Спилберг) установка на уважительное и толерантное отношение к иноязычной культуре.

5. Совершенствование компенсаторных компетенций через развитие речевых способностей и мыслительных операций, таких как, способность к догадке по контексту, по звучанию, по графическому изображению, логическому изложению, обобщению, самостоятельной формулировке на материале текстов по теме.

I Начало урока. Введение в проблему урока.

Good morning, everybody! Today we are going to talk about famous American actors. The twenties century may be called the century of film making. Cinema and TV films have become an important part of our lives. But not everyone knows when and how cinematography appeared. What do you know? Do you know who made the 1^st film? What was it about? (учащиеся отвечают)

Although the greatest cinema empire is Hollywood, the inventors of the cinema were the French, not Americans. The Lumiere brothers invented the first film projector motion – picture camera. On the 28th of December, 1895 the Lumiere brothers made their first three-minute film Arrival of the Train which were demonstrated to the public. In that film, a train came towards the camera. People ran out of the cinema, thinking it was a real train. It was almost a century ago. All the 1996 we celebrated the hundredth anniversary of cinematography.

Since then a new era has begun — the era of cinematography…

(The first film was made by Lumiere brothers. It was about arriving of the train.)

The development of cinematography brought to life the world cinema empire called Hollywood. It’s more than just nine white letters spelling out a city’s name; it’s one of the world’s most evocative symbols – a universal metaphor for ambition, success, glamour …for this dazzling place, industry and dream we call H-O-L-L-Y-W-O-O-D.

Open your books on page 185. Let’s read the text aloud. Fill in the gaps with the words from the text and then we’ll check them.

There are some photos from the film making industry that are known all over the world. What are these people famous for? (презентация и рассказ учащихся)

Pupil 1: Vivien Leigh (1913-1967) the stage name of Vivien Mary Hartley. Indian-born English actress. She appeared on the stage in London and New York, and won Academy Awards for her performances as Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind (1939). Her other films include Lady Hamilton (1941), Anna Karenina (1948).

Pupil 2: Clark Gable (1901-1960) an American film actor. A star for more than 30 years in 90 films, he was celebrated for his romantic roles such as Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind (1939).

Pupil 3: Mary Pickford (1893-1979) the stage name of Gladys Mary Smith. A Canadian-born US actress. The first star of the silent films, she was known as 'America's Sweetheart', and played the roles of innocent girls into her thirties.

Pupil 4: Eddie Murphy (1961- ) an American actor and comedian who first became known for his work on the television programme Saturday Night Live but now is known most­ly for his films, such as Trading Places and Beverly Hills Cop.

Pupil 5: Steven Spielberg (1946- ) a US film director, writer and producer. His credits include such phenomenal box-office successes as Jaws (1975), Jurassic Park (1993). He also directed Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), Hook (1991) and totally different Schindler's List (1993) for which he received Academy Awards for Best Film and Best Director.

Pupil 6: Walt(er) Elias Disney (1901-1966) a US film maker and animator, a pioneer of family entertainment. He established his own studio in Hollywood in 1923, and his first Mickey Mouse cartoons appeared in 1928. In addition to short cartoons, the studio made feature-length animated films, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1938), Pinnocchio (1940), and Dumbo (1941). In 1955, Disney opened the first theme park, Disneyland in California.
