           Ход  мероприятия «Intellectual marathon»

1. Приветствие

Good afternoon dear children,Teachers and guests!  How are you? We are glad to see (greet)  you at our  «Intellectual marathon»!  It is devoted to English-Speaking Countries. Now let me introduce our jury

Five  teams will take part in a game of the most quick-witted and the cleverest. It’s time to introduce yourselves. Who is the captain of the 1^st team?

P1: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is “Erudites”. Our motto is “Enjoy English!”

Quiz-master: Who is the captain of the 2^nd team?

P2: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is “Optimists”. Our motto is “Learn English!”.

Quiz-master: Today all of you have a good chance to improve your English during the game. I have invited a competent  jury to count the points. The members of our jury are …

Now I’m going to tell you the rules of this game. The game has 6 contests, they are:

1. Drawing.
2. Capitals
3. The right choice.
4. Crossword
5. Proverbs and sayings.
6. Hidden words.

Well, I wish you success. Be active, honest and helpful! Remember 5 steps to success:

1. Order.
2. Reserve.
3. Industry.
4. Cleanliness.
5. Justice.

1. Основной этап.

1.Quiz-master: And now we come to the 1^st contest of the game called “Drawing”. And how do you think, what country will our 1^st contest be devoted? ….. Right, our theme is  ” English-Speaking Countries”. You know every country has the state flag. What is the British flag like? Draw, please.

(Командам предлагается  изобразить британский флаг. Когда команды готовы, учитель демонстрирует оригинал. Команда, изобразившая флаг ближе к оригиналу, получает балл). (слайд 4)

You have 2 minutes at your disposal. Each team can get 1 point.

2.Now our 2^nd contest which is called “Capitals” You’ll have to match the country and the capital.  Each team can get 1 point for the right answer

3.Quiz-master: And now we come to the 3^rd contest which is called “The right choice”. . It’s very important to make the right choice in our life: the right choice of a color, a hobby, a friend etc. Each team should answer my questions. You’ll get the cards with the letters a, b, c. Choose the right answer and show us the card with this letter.

           Each team can get 1 point for the right answer.

4.The 4^th contest  is  the crossword. You have 5 minutes to do it. Each team can get 5 points for this task.

5. Quiz-master: Our next contest is called “Proverbs and sayings”. Each team will get a list of words. You should rearrange the words so as to make up a proverb. You have 2 minutes at your disposal and can get 5 points for this assignment.

(Обе команды получают одинаковый набор слов, из которых должны получиться 5 английских пословиц).

6. Quiz-master: Attention, please! The 6^th contest is called “Hidden words”. This round is for the captains. Find, please, the animals hiding in the following sentences! If you are ready raise your hand.

1. If  I shout, he’ll hear me.(Fish)   

2. Close the door at once! (Rat)

3. He’ll come to America tomorrow. (Cat)

4. Do good workers succeed? (Dog)

5. If Roger comes, we’ll begin. (Frog)

1. Заключительный этап. Подведение итогов игры.

 Friends, do you like music? Listen to the song. Our jury will sum up the score of the game.

Jury: The score is … to … in smb’s favour. The team “…” is the winner.

(Победителям игры ставятся в журнал отличные оценки).. The Jury will now announce the name of the winner. And the winner is... I would like to thank all the participants! All of you are very bright and smart. But the cleverest pupils among you are... Let's congratulate them.
