ATTENTION AND MEMORY

• The first data about gender differences in attention were given by H. Heimanns. He pointed at the worse distribution of attention of women expressed through their inability to speak and do smth. at the same time.

• Experiments of M.S. Yegorova and N.F. Shlyakhta demonstrated the original attention of 14-15 year old teenagers: girls oriented at quickness and boys at – at the work accuracy (according to the indices of volume, stability and distribution of attention). Analogous results were obtained during the adults testing (M.K. Bosyi, L.N. Fomenko). At the same time women dominated in their choice, stability, volume of attention.

• V.P. Bagrunov (1981) made a research of attention to prove the hypothesis about the changeability of indices. He revealed men’s domination in the work with new stimuli and women’s – in the work with old, accustomed, patterned things.

• Исследование вербальной памяти, данное в книге Э. Маккоби и К. Джеклина, охватывает исследуемых людей в возрасте от 2,5 до 75 лет. Ни один из возрастных периодов не выявил доминирования мальчиков или мужчин. Девочки и женщины лучше запоминают материал, созданный визуально и на слух, он затрагивает отдельные слова, предложения и истории (чувственную память), а также демонстрирует доминирование в запоминании имен и имеет более богатый набор словесных ассоциаций, которые они начинают показывать в возрасте 3 лет.

• girls revealed domination in verbal memory, adult women – in short one (verbal, non-verbal, partially – visual spatial), in the rest of cases the character of the material did not influence any differences.
