Ivan Shishkin graduated from Kazan gymnasia. He then studied at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture for 4 years, after that attended Saint Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts from 1856 to 1860, graduating with the highest honors and a gold medal. He received the Imperial scholarship for his further studies in Europe.

Nizhny Novgorod fair
Nizhny Novgorod fair is one of the largest exhibition complexes in Russia, which every year hosts more than 60 exhibitions on various topics (medicine, education, architecture, ecology and others).
Now on the territory of the fair there are six exhibition pavilions and five conference rooms, which accept even the most honored guests. Thanks to its activities, the fair of Nizhny Novgorod brought this city to a new economic level and made it even more attractive to tourists.

Gorky had a good reputation and he supported the nascent Marxist social-democratic movement. As a result both a large number of “conscious” workers and intelligentsia appreciated him and Gorky became famous.
Maxim Gorky openly disapproved the Tsarist regime and was imprisoned many times. He supported a lot of revolutionists. In 1902 Gorky became acquainted with Lenin and after a while made friends with him. The same year he was elected an honorary Academician of Literature.
