Ecological hiking paths in Baikalsk

Goal:

To present new hiking tours around Baikalsk.

Objectives:

- to learn interesting material about local hiking paths;

- to explore the hiking paths;

- to rate the routes

on the scale of difficulty;

- to work out the booklet.

Baikalsk and its uniqueness

- southern coast of Lake Baikal

• the Khamar-Daban mountain chain
• mild climate - soft warm winters and cool but sunny summers
• clean and humid air
• between Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude
• small but cosy city with all necessary sport facilities

President Vladimir Putin:

“ Baikalsk must become a

center of hiking tourism in Russia.”

Baikalsk – future ecological hiking center

- Baikalsk is planned to be the a federal center of natural path building.

- By 2025, it will result in 100 kilometers of new environmentally friendly paths and hiking routes around Baikalsk.

The "Fairytale" eco-path

- it was opened in 2019

- you need to use an elevator, as it starts at a height of 900 meters

- only 2 kilometers

-very picturesque, and passes through a dense forest.

• there are giant cedars, rocks, large stumps,

trees of bizarre shapes.

" Devil's Finger"

• located in the foothills of the Khamar-Daban Range.
• The route is about 7 kilometers long, the time of hiking is about 2 hours.
• In winter this route remains popular with

cross-country skiers.

Mountains hiking paths for skilled tourists

Two Peaks Eco-path and

"Babkhinskie Landscapes“

These routes are laid down in the wild nature, they are 6 km of climbing or cycling up.

"Baikalskaya versta"

- Nowadays it is the most popular hiking route.

- The length of the route is 3.3 kilometers, there are pedestrian and bicycle tracks, several branches, viewing platforms and art objects .

Stone paths are also being built in the industrial zone of the pulp and paper mill, the routes are called:

“ Big circle of BPPM"

"Small circle of BPPM".

New paths appear along these routes, such as

"Path of Goosebumps“,

"Soul path“,

"Dragonfly Lake".

Having explored the routes, I can present my assessment data.

We took into account attractiveness, accessibility, informative content and physical efforts (difficulty).

Conclusion

With this project we want to show

• the variety of hiking routes in Baikalsk,
• to share our experience
• advice you the tours appropriate to you.

While hiking you can enjoy the wild nature, fresh humid air and nice natural views.
