Sleep is food for the brain. During sleeping, important body functions and brain activity occur. Skipping sleep can be really harmful. You can look bad, you may feel moody, perform poorly. Sleepiness can make it hard to get along with your family and friends and hurt your scores on school exams. Teens need about 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night to function best. Unfortunately, most teens do not get enough sleep.
Not getting enough sleep or having sleep difficulties can limit your ability to learn, listen, concentrate and solve problems. You may even forget important information like names, numbers, your homework or a date with a special person in your life. Moreover, lack of sleep can lead to aggressive or inappropriate behavior.

Scientists have discovered that being an only child doesn't just lead to differences in behaviour. It actually influences a child's brain development. The participants in this latest study were given tests to measure their intelligence and personality. In addition, their brains were scanned with special machines.
Although the results didn't show any difference in intelligence between the two groups, they did reveal that only children are more flexible in their thinking. But according to personality tests, they are not always really nice people.
As for the brain scanning, only children had more volume in the areas associated with language understanding. By contrast, the brains of only children had less volume in the areas which are responsible for emotions.

Why do cats purr? Humans tend to think that purring is a sign of happiness in a cat, but there are other reasons why our pets produce these particular sounds. The Ancient Egyptian pyramids are some of the most impressive structures ever built by human. Many of the pyramids are still present today for us to see and explore.
The pyramids were built as burial places to the Pharaohs. As part of their religion, the Egyptians believed that the Pharaoh needed certain things to take with him in the afterlife.
Deep inside the pyramids lays the Pharaoh's burial chamber which would be filled with treasure and various items for the Pharaoh to use in the afterlife. The walls were often covered with carvings and paintings. Near the Pharaoh's chamber would be other rooms where family members and servants were buried. There were often smaller rooms that acted as temples and larger rooms for storage. Narrow passageways led to the outside.

Many doors lead to an auditorium consisting of stalls, boxes, and balconies. In front of the auditorium, there is a curtain separating it from a stage. What are the best careers for the future? How will everything change? Is it possible to prepare for the jobs of tomorrow — today? Many of us would love to have definite answers for these questions. Yak
In the big mountains there lives a yak (як). He can see white snow, cold ice and short grass near him. There are no shops, no ice cream and no children in the mountains. He is very sad.
One day a bird comes to him and tells him about the blue sea, happy children and tasty ice-cream. So Yak says good-bye to his family and goes down the mountain. He goes down and down. But he can see only big mountains around him.
Suddenly Yak stops next to a little mountain river. He is thirsty and very sad.
“ Why are you so sad?” asks the river.
“I don’t know where the sea is.”
“I know it very well. Come on, I will show you where the sea is!”
Now Yak and the river go to the sea together. The river gets bigger and bigger.
“I can see the sea! It is very big! It is wonderful! It is nicer here than in the cold mountains,” says Yak at last.
He sits on the sand and watches the sea. The happy children come up to him and give him ice cream. He loves it! Now Yak is the happiest yak in the world.

Funny uncle
One day Marry Poppins, Jane and Michael go to her uncle, Mr Wigg. He lives in a small flat.
In his flat there is a nice large living-room. In the left corner of it there is a fireplace. There is a big table with four cups, bread and butter, cookies, chocolates and a large apple cake.
“Nice to see you”, says Mr Wigg but the children can’t see him.
“Oh, my uncle! Is it your birthday today?” Marry Poppins says and looks up. Jane and Michael look up too. They can see a fat man above the table. He is in the air (в воздухе). He has a book in his hands.
«Hello, Mary”, says Mr Wigg, “I’m very sorry, but it is my birthday.”
“But why…?” says Jane.
“But how…?” says Michael.

Rabbit’s Clothes.
One day the rabbit was very hungry and ran to Mr Grey’s garden. There were some sweet carrots, red tomatoes, big potatoes and red apples there! The rabbit was happy in this garden!
At 12 o’clock Mr Grey came into the garden and started his work. Suddenly he saw Peter: “A rabbit in my garden!” Mr Grey jumped up and ran after the rabbit. The rabbit jumped up and ran after away from Mr Grey. But he couldn’t see the garden door.
He lost his red shoes near the tomatoes. He had no shoes on! Now he could run on his four legs! Then he jumped out of his jacket. Now he had no clothes on and ran very fast.
Suddenly he saw the garden door. Closed! The rabbit went under it. How happy he was to be out of the garden!
Mr Grey was happy too. He had no rabbits in his garden. When he saw a blue jacket and shoes, he got happier:
“Now I have got some nice clothes! Two red shoes and a blue jacket.”
Mr Grey put the rabbit’s clothes on a scarecrow (пугало).

The shoemaker was very ill and couldn’t work. But next morning he saw the most beautiful shoes on the table!
The old man thought: “Who helped me?”
At night the shoemaker saw two elves! They were very little but looked like boys. They were very cold because they had little clothes on. Their shoes were very old and dirty.
“They haven’t got warm clothes! They help me and I must help them too. I’ll make new jackets and shoes!”
At night the two elves saw two red jackets and new shoes. They put them on. They were so happy that they didn’t want to work. They went away from the shoemaker’s house and were never back.
What about the old man? He was very sad, but he was never poor.
