In the South Urals, environmental volunteering as a social movement began in 2019, the region faced the appearance of the organization "Eco-Volunteer 74". According to the Ministry of Ecology of the region, last year there were at least 18 thousand eco-volunteers. In addition, about 350 thousand people can be classified as passive eco-volunteers. So, 12 thousand volunteers went to the banks of all rivers and lakes last year and cleaned them from garbage for four months. They cleaned 806 km of the coastline and collected 310 tons of trash. The younger generation is taught to separate the garbage through the annual contest of New Year toys made of solid waste. Another regional environmental public organization, “AntiSmog”, is also actively fighting for a comfortable environment. Every year this organization holds "Clean Games". It is a team competition for picking up and sorting waste, a sort of a small festivals with elements of environmental quests. Thanks to them, over 50 tons of garbage have been picked up in three years. The young generation is also trained to separate garbage in the "Divide and Conquer" campaign. Young people are more and more actively involved in the process, sorting plastic, caps, and toothbrushes and other things separately.

Experts believe that thanks to the joint efforts of various environmental organizations and activists, in a couple of years the region's residents will acquire the right environmental habits.
