Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is situated in the north-east of the island of Ireland .

Climate

Climate of Northern Ireland is mild with warm winters and cool summers.

Northern Ireland is divided into 6 counties and 26 districts .

Area

Although Northern Ireland occupies one sixth of Ireland throughout the area , but one third of the population of the island lives there.

Population

There are three groups of populations live in Northern Ireland: about 500 thousand indigenous inhabitants of the island of Ireland - Irish and about 1 million Englishmen and Scots .

Language

The official language of Northern Ireland is English, although some schools study Gaelic .

Education

In Northern Ireland education is compulsory for all children aged 5 to 16 years old.

Industry

Industry is concentrated in the areas of major ports. Northern Ireland has lignite, iron ore, limestone , sand and gravel.

Agricultural products

The main agricultural products are eggs, milk, meat, bacon, oats, barley and potatoes .

Transport

  Most residents drive their cars. Public transport - buses . There are two airports , railway station and port.

Belfast

Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland since 1921.

Donegall Square

The main feature of the center is Donegall Square, surrounded by the monuments of the Victorian time.

Linen Hall

There is also a library Linen Hall, which holds the main treasures of Irish Literature .

District High St. is in the north of Belfast. It is known as Entriz.

Grand Opera House is one of the most famous building in Belfast.

Zoo is in the suburb of Belfast .

One of the most popular attractions is the 10 - meter figure of "Big Fish”.

National anthem

The national anthem of the United Kingdom “God Save the Queen” is sung at all public events.

National flag

National flag of Northern Ireland consists of the St. George Cross inside which a white six-pointed star and a red hand. Above the star is a crown.

Shamrock is the symbol of Northern Ireland. It is associated with Saint Patrick, the Saint patron of Ireland.
